Abstract

Choriocarcinoma deserves attention because, though rare, the brain is affected with remarkable constancy. In general, it is accepted that cerebral metastasis marks higher percentage next to the
pulmonary metastasis in metastatic choriocarcinoma.
Conventionally metastatic choriocarcinoma has been treated with systemic administration of methotrexate only or combined with other oncolytic agents. But cerebral metastasis is known to be poor-prognostic in spite of intensive chemotherapy.
Chemotherapeutic agents by systemic administration hardly enter the brain tissue in effective concentration unless the toxic dosage is administered. Intrathecal route is argued to overcome the disadvantages of systemic administration. 12,14,18,19
We experienced a case of cerebral metastasis of choriocarcinoma which was successfully treated by the surgery combined with chemotherapy.
